I've always had a passion for nature, which is no surprise given I moved to the Lake District aged ten. This passion didn't translate into photography until 2014 though, when I got my first DSLR camera.
Before that I pursued my interest in the planet through a Physical Geography degree at Newcastle University. Looking back on it that is where the photography bug bit me - During a trip to County Donegal where I took a little compact camera so I could document images for my coursework.
A lot of things have changed since then, and even more so since that first DSLR sat in my hands. I've learned to appreciate the beauty of the early morning and late evening light and spent countless hours chasing light, mist, and mountains across all types of terrain.
The sleep deprivation is most definitely worth it when you're on the summit of a mountain for sunrise, and while photography does drive me to get out into the landscape the image is always secondary to the experience.
